Saint Valmiki used to worship Sri Vana Durga daily when he was once a hunter. Afterwards, he raised to the extent of presenting 'Ramakavya' with the blessings of Sri Vana Durga, shortly referred to as 'Ambal'. The Epic 'Maha Bharath' says that Pandavas were forced to live in the forest for 13 years (This period is known as vanavasam) and were compelled to live in exile as well as in disquise (better known as the period of Agnyana Vasam). Both these periods were completed successfull by them without hindrance by their sincere worship of Sri VanaDurga. In the same way, the Pandavas started the kurukshetra war in Maha Bharath only after worship of Sri Vana Durga and they conquered with Her blessings.

Even today, many people, all over the country come to Pelakkuppam to worship Sri Vana Durga and 'AMMA' to seek Her blessings and get redressed of their problems.
